I am the lab manager for the Coastal and Polar Physical Oceanography Lab at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science where I oversee operations of remote operated vehicles (ROVs), Slocum gliders, York River contaminant surveys, and collaborate on an acoustic oil spill response project.  I design acoustic sensor mounts for gliders and ROVs using AutoCAD and 3D printers, build flow-through water sampling systems, and deploy gliders in polar and coastal systems.

My additional interests lie in the deep sea with all things unique and wonderful.  I have studied the feeding ecology of lanternfish (aka myctophids) from the northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge as well as their role in carbon export to the deep.  I received my BS from Christopher Newport University and MS in fisheries science from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science.
